The Friends of St. Andrew’s

The Friends of St. Andrew’s was set up in 2005 with the aim of raising funds for the maintenance and improvement of St. Andrew’s church, churchyard and Church halls.

Since its formation, The Friends has raised more than £60,000 which has made a major contribution to funding essential repairs to the roof and spire. In 2015, The Friends contributed £4,000 towards the repairs to the Clerestory windows, which our latest five-year inspection had highlighted were leaking and allowing water ingress which could only deteriorate their condition further.

In 2016, St. Andrew’s Fabric Committee identified the priority to be an extension to the kitchen area in the church to provide additional storage facilities. This development will make it a lot easier to work in the kitchen as well as helping to declutter the church. The total cost is expected to be in the region of £10,000. A legacy of £5,000 has been received from the estate of Reverend John Allen, a former vicar of St. Andrews. The remaining cost, up to £5,000 will be financed by The Friends.

The Friends of St. Andrews issues two newsletters a year, in January and July. Its Annual Meeting is held in June. All members are welcome to attend.
